(June 18, 2012, St. John's, NL)The Research & Development Corporation (RDC) is issuing a call for proposals for academic-led R&D in support of Arctic technology development. Last month, RDC launched ArcticTECH (2012-14), a $5 million, three-year program aimed at strengthening Arctic-related research and development capacity in Newfoundland and Labrador. The program is designed to draw upon the province’s competitive advantages – unique geographic position, existing R&D expertise and support infrastructure and a proven track record of development and operations in harsh environments.
Academic researchers at Memorial University of Newfoundland, its institutes and incorporated entities, and the College of the North Atlantic are eligible to submit proposals in two areas: Collaborative R&D Awards that involve local and/or global technology companies and the development of Arctic Research Tools and Equipment.
RDC’s maximum contribution for both areas will be $250,000 per project for up to three years. The deadline for academic-led project submissions is Nov. 14, 2012, at 4 p.m. Both academia and businesses interested in R&D funding opportunities through ArcticTECH (2012-14) are encouraged to visit RDC during NOIA Conference 2012 at the Atlantic Canada Petroleum Show R&D Pavilion at Mile One Centre in St. John’s. The Pavilion is open Wednesday, June 20, from 10 a.m., to 5 p.m., and Thursday, June 21, from 10 a.m., to 4 p.m.
More information about this call for proposals and business-led R&D funding for Arctic Technology Development, is available on RDC’s website.
