The Journal of Ocean Technology magazine production team is inviting the submission of research papers and essays for volume 7 (four issues), which are due for publication in 2012.

• Technology to the wind: sailing
• Mapping the oceans
• Extreme survival
• Oil on water: tankers

Papers should present the results of new research in ocean technology, science or engineering. All papers are subjected to a rigorous peer-review process. Essays should present well-informed observations and conclusions, and identify key issues for the oceans community in a concise manner, using easily understandable language. Essays should be both educational and thought provoking.
