added on June 8, 2012 @ 12:03am by wade
Petroleum Research Newfoundland and Labrador is seeking Expressions of Interest for a design competition for an evacuation system for use in cold regions. Called “Next Generation Evacuation Craft for Cold Regions and Ice Covered Water – Phase 2” the EOI closes June 29, 2012, 3:00PM, NL Standard Time.
Successful organizations will be provided with a Statement of Work, a Statement of Requirements and an invitation to develop a conceptual design to be reviewed by Petroleum Research with the intention that one of the concept designs will be further developed into a working prototype.
Successful organizations who conduct this work from within Newfoundland and Labrador may have access to a $50,000 CAD subsidy. To qualify prospective organizations must be able to demonstrate their ability to undertake this effort. The EOI may propose one of two options:
- An existing evacuation system design and a description of modifications required to satisfy the following: --to be stowed onboard and launched from an offshore installation from a freeboard of not less than 40m
--transit through or over pack ice of concentrations between 1/10th and 10/10ths
--transit through large waves
--has the potential to be recovered to a standby vessel OR - A team with appropriate knowledge and experience to develop a new concept design. The team must be able to demonstrate experience in:
--Design of craft for operation in or on ice
--Knowledge of current evacuation systems and the lifesaving regulatory environment
--Knowledge of the Escape, Evacuation and Rescue process and associated hazards
Prospective organizations are welcome to submit an EOI in each format.
