The Centre for Aquaculture and Seafood Development (CASD) undertakes applied research, product and process development, technology transfer, advisory services, education and training in support of the seafood processing and aquaculture industries.

CASD operates a modern, well -equipped aquaculture research facility as well as two food pilot plant facilities which are provincially and federally registered and have an approved QMP program.

CASD works with industry clients to:

·          develop and test new technologies, equipment and processes

·          adopt technologies from other sources

·          develop and test new products for export

·          improving current practices and procedures

·          develop and conduct training workshops for employees and other personnel

·          aquaculture site evaluations

·          biotelemetry

·          nutritional studies, feed and feed additive evaluations

·          product analysis

·          HACCP assistance

·          post-harvest technologies

·          fishery by-products utilization
