C-CORE is a Separately Incorporated Entity (SIE) of Memorial University which undertakes research and development of innovative engineering technologies primarily for application in natural resource sectors including offshore oil and gas, gas transmission pipelines, mining and hydro. International and national government clients also use the services of C-CORE to address security, sustainability and safety issues related to their regulatory and operating needs.
C-CORE’s expertise includes:
- Intelligent Sensors - advanced machine vision and adaptive pattern recognition systems, industrial automation systems, intelligent sensor and control systems, and innovative robotic and telerobotic systems.
- Radar and Vision Systems - Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)/optical satellite image processing for earth observation; radar research and design for target detection and classification; ocean environmental monitoring; and data processing and analysis.
- Ice Engineering - ice management and detection to aid marine operations; determination of risk associated with marine structures, seabed installations and pipelines in ice infested waters; monitoring of pack ice, icebergs and atmospheric ice; determining the impact forces of icebergs and sea ice loads on structures.
- Geotechnical Engineering - centrifuge modelling, full-scale modelling, earthquake modelling, pipeline testing, ice/seabed interaction, soil/structure interaction, risk, numerical analysis.
C-CORE also operates satellite offices in Ottawa, ON and Halifax, NS.
