PAL FINDS FRIEND IN NEW INVESTOR

(St. John's, NL: 16 Nov. 2014) Provincial Aerospace said Wednesday it has reached an agreement that would see its parent company, the PAL Group of Companies, sold to Winnipeg-based Exchange Income Corporation (EIC).
Under the terms of the deal, the PAL Group — whose holdings involve an airline, a fleet of 30 aircraft and defence and aerospace interests — will continue to be operated independently under its current management at its headquarters in St. John’s. Read more.

China does not loan out its pandas to just anyone, so a deal in April for two of the bears to head to Copenhagen zoo raised some eyebrows in Scandinavia. Some commentators suggested that this was all about the Arctic and especially about Greenland, which Denmark partly administers, and its mineral resources.
SOMETHING FISHY ABOUT THE FUTURE OF US NAVY UUV SURVEILLANCE

The US Navy is testing a stealthy, 4 foot-long fish-shaped autonomous underwater vehicle designed to blend in with undersea life and perform combat sensor functions, service officials explained.
The so-called “bio-memetic” undersea vehicle is currently being developed as part of the Chief of Naval Operations Rapid Innovation Cell, or CRIC – a special unit set up by CNO Adm. Jonathan Greenert in 2012 to explore the feasibility of rapidly turning around commercially available technologies for Naval military use.
STRONG GROWTH FORECAST IN GLOBAL AUV MARKET

North America will account for 75% of the military AUV market in 2014. However, this market share may decrease to 70% by 2018, as emerging economies increasingly invest in their military fleets. Overall growth of military demand in AUVs closely mirrors the investment in drone aircraft.

ADIANL in partnership with the Government of NL and our local ACOA office will conduct a mission to the Washington DC area in April 2014. An anchor event for the mission will be attendance at the annual Sea Air Space exposition April 7-9, 2014. Other mission activities will include networking opportunities through/with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) and other trade and business development activities coordinated with the Trade Commissioner Service at the Canadian Embassy in Washington.
DRDC SEEKS NEW PROPOSALS FOR CANADA'S SAFETY AND SECURITY PROGRAM

The Government of Canada is seeking proposals in support of the Canadian Safety and Security Program (CSSP) Call for Proposals, for innovative science and technology (S&T) projects.
As of May 2014, up to $15 million will be available for new projects under the CSSP. The submission period for proposals will be from June 20th, 2013 and will close on July 18th, 2013. The selected projects will be announced by February 2014.

The Trade Commision of Canada recenty took possession of a report called the "UK Marine Security Report" from the High Commission in London. Information in the report may be of interst to any companies with technologies that can be used in this sector. According to Daniel Tibbetts, trade commissioner to London, the report is a good one.
